The Thinking Behind Our New Battery Labels

It started as a simple idea to organize our own gear — and today, we’re excited to share the finished product with you.

There’s a moment on every shoot we know too well: staring into a bag of identical black batteries, playing a guessing game with your workflow. That small moment of friction—that tiny, preventable headache—is the exact reason we created our Custom Battery Labels. It’s a simple product, born from a core belief about how gear should work.

Our philosophy is simple: your gear should support your creativity, not get in its way. Frankly, your brain has more important work to do than track the charge level of six identical black rectangles. Our job is to design thoughtful systems that handle that noise for you. With that in mind, we designed our labels with three parts.

The first part is about ending the guesswork for good. The sequential numbering lets you use a simple ‘First In, First Out’ system. Just grab the next number in line. You’ll always know you have a fresh battery, without a moment's hesitation.

The second part focuses on organizing your entire ecosystem. We know you’re often juggling multiple camera systems or working alongside different teams on larger productions. By assigning a different colour to each specific kit — one for your A-cam, another for your B-cam — you can instantly identify the right battery for the right tool. This same system works for distinguishing between teams, letting you assign a colour to each operator or department. This simple colour-coding eliminates mix-ups, streamlines prep, and ensures you never grab a battery that doesn’t belong.

And the third part of the solution is about clear ownership. By adding your name and contact info, you turn a generic tool into a personal one. It’s a mark of pride in your kit, and it gives a lost battery a fighting chance to find its way home instead of vanishing into the void.

So on the surface, yes, it's a label. But to us, it's a small, thoughtful system designed to solve a real, persistent problem. It's a tool we made for ourselves first, and we hope it gives you one less thing to worry about on your next shoot.

See you out there.
